As you begin to hunt for your new home you may look at homes requiring some improvement. Answering questions such as how much will it cost to remodel a kitchen or bathroom may influence your purchase decision. The National Association of Realtors just released their 2006 Cost vs. Value Report which breaks down common home improvement projects, provides their cost and estimated return. As a caution, the report serves as a rough guide as each project is unique. As an example, I am in the process of renovating our guest bathroom. The project will be completed for under $5,000, well below the $15,320 estimate for a mid-range bathroom remodel. If you would like a copy of the complete Chicago report let me know and I can mail a copy. Prior Reports 2005 Cost vs. Value Report 2004 Cost vs. Value Report
