BlockShopper, Real Estate Sales Info and Gossip

November 15th, 2007 by Jeff · No Comments

Chicago real estate is a great spectator sport.  Always the lookout for new sites that may be of interest to my clients and readers, I was given the heads up about BlockShopper by Chicago’s Home Weblog.  The site not only provides closed sales data, but info on both the buyer and seller involved in some (emphasis on some) of the transactions.  For example, did you know…

Former Chicago Bears safety Jim Cantelupe and his wife, 1999 Miss Ohio Tiffany Baumann, paid $1.415 million for a Lincoln Park single-family home April 12. or Potbelly Sandwich Works vice president John Morlock and his wife, Susan, sold their four-bedroom, 3.1 bath at 1445 W. Cuyler for $1.045 million to John and Emily Macentee on Oct. 5. or Luke Massery, who had a small role in the 1993 football film Rudy sold his seven-bedroom, three bath in West Lakeview at 3615 N. Marshfield for $670,000 on Oct. 11 to Richard Hardesty.

Right now the scope is limted to Lincoln Park and Lake View but the site mentions expansion is planned.  Not sure how complete the data is, but in any case it makes for some interesting reading. Source: BlockShopper
