In my post, MLSNI and and MAP to Consolidate, I requested the link to the site, Save our MLS.  Found it courtesy of a Chicago Agent article titled, “Word War Beaks Out in MLS Merger Debate”.  Darn that “.info” extension. Happy to report that the Chicago Association of Realtors is in support of the merger.  Ginger Downs, CEO of CAR, comments….

It is the position of the Chicago association, that the MLSNI-MAP transaction best serves the needs of our 17,500 members.  It will reduce double fees for many of our members, provide a better technology platform, and allow our broker members to have control over the destiny of the MLS in our area. 

Forget broker control, bottom line is that many agents will be able to deliver better service to their customers.  There are many details in the merger to work through, but change is painful and often beneficial.  Now if they could only address data quality issues such as square footage, parking costs, and school districts to mention three, that would be fantastic.
