I wrote about the former Hostess Wonder Bread Bakery at 1301 W. Diversey in Lincoln Park here and here. The plan was presented to us (concerned neighbors) on May 10. Seems that the plan that will be presented to the city is finally ready (click image to right to enlarge).
- Max of 13 single family homes starting at about 2.5 million and up. Multiple lots can be combined so actual number of homes may be less than 13. Lots are being sold to independant developers and strict PUD specifications need to be followed.
- 12 Townhomes starting at about $850K and up. Ground breaking is anticipated for the Fall 2007 with delivery starting in the Spring of 2008.
- The Peerless factory across Lakewood has closed it’s doors.  While still zoned manufacturing, this site will most likely (no guarantee here) be turned residential as well which will make owners at 1301 W. Diversey very happy.Â
Have to say I am very impressed with the plan and willingness of the developer and architects to involve the community in the process. Think the talking needs to stop and the building should begin.
