The other day I headed over to show a listing of mine in Lincoln Park. I arrived early as I always do to turn on lights and straighten up to ensure the property shows it’s best. On this occasion, I found a bedroom closet pocket door had come off the hinges. The door could not be rehung as the bottom of the frame had come unglued. As the buyer agent and buyer soon arrived, I began to show the unit. As we got to the bedroom with the closet door unhinged, from across the room, the buyer remarked, “looks like that closet door is off the hinge.” Is this a make or break issue? Probably not, but when first impressions are everything, I take no chances. Needless to say, that evening I headed over to the property and repaired the door with a little Super Glue. When listing a home, even the smallest details can make a difference, especially in this competitive marketplace. Before listing, it is helpful to review your home (your agent’s assistance can be helpful here) for potential improvements, and make note of any work that may need to be performed. If necessary, professional home staging services can be obtained.
